About Kiersten Main
Kiersten Main began riding at the age of 6, when she attended her first horse camp at Devonwood Farms in Orlando, Florida. As she grew up, she rode and showed Hunters at Devonwood until she began working there as a trail guide, giving mini-lessons to beginner riders. At the age of 18, she began working for Arabian Nights Dinner Show in Kissimmee, Florida, under head trainer, Kim Barteau. Based upon her performance ability, Kiersten was selected to ride and perform with the famous Lippizzaner horses. She then transitioned to riding at liberty (bridleless, saddless riding), including Walter Farley’s Black Stallion, rosin back riding, roman riding, bull whips on horseback and performing many exciting stunts.
Notably, Kiersten was invited to be a guest commentator at the Sanger School Dinner Show at the Northern Telcom Tucson Open at Al-Marah Arabians, a prestigious Arabian horse farm in Tucson, Arizona. That same year, Kiersten returned to Florida and began working for a private training facility under trainer, Jason Straub. There she trained liberty ponies, roman teams and rosin back horses.
During this time, she also worked for the Royal Hanneford Shrine Circus as a rosinback rider, aerial artist, and a singer. She also landed a prestigious position working for Gaylord Maynard as a schooling rider, and as the “straight man” in his comedy act “Gaylord Maynard and his American Appaloosa, Chief Bear Paw.”
In 1996, Kiersten began working for Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, as a trick rider and a roman rider. From there, she then went out on her own, traveling with her own trick-riding horse, performing at various events. Kiersten worked again, briefly, at Arabian Nights, as a fill-in rosin-back rider, trick rider and roman rider. Eventually, Kiersten returned to Devonwood Farms to work as the head trainer, teaching hunt seat, western pleasure, and vaulting (rosin back riding).
